Job Summary:
This role will rovide direct senior leadership for the management of the SMI Investment Administration teams to achieve the loan administration, servicing, operations, investment income, real estate management and quality goals of StanCorp Mortgage Investors, LLC (SMI), StanCorp Real Estate (SRE) and Standard Insurance Company (SIC) as established periodically. Lead the teams to develop, implement and maintain financial reporting systems and processes for the Company. Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of commercial real estate strategy, policies, processes that provide effective and efficient internal controls and support sound Division decision making and planning. Direct internal and external resources to ensure that SMI has adequate resources to manage and report on a large portfolio of commercial real estate loans and in the reporting on real estate managed by SRE.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
25% Leadership of Servicing and Technology Operations
Provide for the support, resources, development and leadership of the Servicing and Technology Operation Departments. Focus on profitable administration and servicing of the commercial real estate loan portfolio that have been sold in whole or in part to a variety of institutional investors by the effective use of loan administration and servicing resources, including internal staff, correspondents and third-party providers. Maintain productive servicing relationships with mortgage banking correspondents that enhance their ability to originate and service loans for StanCorp Mortgage Investors on a profitable basis.
25% Strategic Technology Enablement and Process Improvement
Ensure effective deployment of appropriate technology and tools throughout StanCorp Mortgage Investors, LLC (SMI). Align systems direction with strategic goals and objectives for SMI and StanCorp Financial Group (SFG). Monitor technology marketplace for trends and opportunities to further leverage technology at SMI. Ensure systems enable and support evolving business needs. This includes maintaining and leveraging existing systems (Rockport, Box, and the Office Suite of Tools) and evaluating, recommending and implementing new systems and services. Ensure an ongoing focus on process improvement through a disciplined use of effective tools and practices.
25% Financial Oversight, Planning, and Reporting Leadership
Provide strategic oversight of financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis activities for the SMI and SRE divisions. Lead the preparation and delivery of management, board, regulatory, rating agency, and investor reporting to ensure transparency and alignment with organizational objectives. Direct the development and reforecasting of operational and capital budgets, coordinating closely with Corporate Finance and Accounting, Actuarial, and AMG Planning teams to ensure consistency with enterprise-wide financial goals. Oversee the creation and maintenance of financial models and analyses that inform process improvements and technology investments. Ensure internal controls over financial reporting are effectively designed and operating and support internal and external audits and examinations.
15% Investor Relationship Management and Portfolio Support
Develop and maintain productive servicing and operational relationships with investor clients. Support the sale of new participations to these clients and the quality customer service and reporting associated with the investor's portfolios.
10% Strategic Policy and Lending Support
Participate with and support senior management in the establishment and maintenance of commercial real estate lending and real estate strategy, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines for SMI, SRE and SIC

Skills and Background You'll Need:
- Deep understanding of commercial real estate loan servicing and administration, including investor reporting, regulatory compliance, and portfolio management. 
- Expertise in financial reporting systems, budgeting, and forecasting processes for investment operations. 
- Familiarity with technology platforms used in loan servicing (e.g., LOANS, SMILE, Office Suite tools) and ability to evaluate and implement new systems. 
- Knowledge of commercial real estate strategy, policies, and internal controls that support sound decision-making and planning. 
- Strong leadership and team development skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external partners. 
- Excellent strategic planning and execution capabilities, especially in aligning operations with corporate goals. 
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement. 
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence senior leadership and external investors. 
- Ability to lead servicing and technology operations to ensure profitable administration of commercial real estate loans sold to institutional investors. [AVP SMI] 
- Capacity to direct internal and external resources to manage large loan portfolios and real estate assets. 
- Ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with mortgage banking correspondents and investor clients. 
- Proven ability to drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, innovation, and adherence to compliance standards. 
Job Specifications:
- Required education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
- Required experience: Eight years of loan administration experience with progressive levels of supervisory responsibilities in the real estate lending environment, including at least five years in a leadership role, or the equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Technical and legal aspects of servicing commercial mortgage loans, mortgage database software, financial analysis and spreadsheet software, the Office Suite of Tools, corporate banking practices. 
- Preferred professional licensure or certification: CPA or CFA Preferred. 
Location:
Employees in this role must be available to commute to an office or otherwise must be in a specific geographic location to perform the functions of the job.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel only (such as for planning purposes, team-building, or conferences) may be required.

- Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on a variety of factors including individual and organizational performance. 
The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.
Salary Range:
$151,750.00 - $252,500.00Positions will be posted for at least 5 days from original posting date.
